Gottles Glass Bottles Upcycling Program

What is CRV? CRV stands for California Redemption Value. It is the small deposit you pay when you buy drinks in eligible bottles and cans in California, which you get back when you recycle them.

How the CRV Program Works?

  1. The Deposit. You pay an extra fee at checkout when buying drinks like soda, beer, water, or juice.
  2. The Refund. You can take your empty, clean containers to a certified recycling center to get your cash back.
  3. The Rates. 0.05 for containers under 24 ounces, 0.10 for containers 24 ounces or large, 0.25 for certain wine or liquor boxes, bladders, and pouches.

You can check if a container qualifies by looking for "CA CRV" or "California Redemption Value" printed on the label. For more details on rules and eligible items, check the official CalRecycle Beverage Container Program.

Since Non-CRV glass containers have NO redemption value, we created a program that will give material value to these glass bottle containers - the Gottles Glass Bottles Upcycling Program (GGBUP).

The program also encourages consumers to upcycle, repurpose or reuse these glass containers.
